The kayaking option in Antarctica is amazing. It’s an incredible way to get onto the water and get up close and personal (within a safe distance of course) to the incredible glaciers, cliffs and icebergs. Our kayak guides, Becs (a Kiwi) and Scott (a Canadian) were great. We were very lucky with the weather, and only had to cancel two kayak excursions because of rough water or wind. On the other days, we had amazingly clear, calm waters. Paddling through ice is an experience! I felt like a mini ice-breaker! We had penguins swimming very close to us daily, had a leopard seal swim next to us, and even paddled right past a Ross’s seal (apparently a rare sight) on an ice pack. We also had a humpback whale in the water with us, but a distance away. We saw his back, and then the tail as he dived.
