In 1996, we travelled overland from Alicante, Spain to Cape Town, South Africa in a Landrover. We decided that, at some point – probably when we retired – we would build a custom vehicle to travel to other bits of the world.
We’re not quite ready to retire yet, but we happened to be in Knysna, where there’s a company that specialises in building the sort of vehicle we’re looking for. So we paid them a visit, and were impressed. Without so much as an appointment, they spent more than 4 hours with us over two days, talking through options, showing us their workshops and even discussing and providing an initial design. So now we’re (probably) building our custom vehicle, even if we don’t retire right now.
Naturally, she has to be an African animal, and we’re quite fond of the nutty warthog that seems to wander around the planet on its own terms. So, we’ll build a ‘wandering warthog’. We’re still looking for a ‘real’ name for her – like Betty or Wanda – unless she turns out to be a he. We won’t know until he/she is born! I have my (current) favourite name, but it’s not decided yet. Any ideas?
