Camping in our van at Cederberg Park Kromrivier in a really lovely campsite. Big sites, each with at least one huge old oak tree offering shade. Plus, each campsite has its own small shower, toilet, and a dishwashing/kitchen area. Really well-designed and laid out. Plus there’s a restaurant, with its own craft beer!
Day 1, we did a 9km hike from the campsite up the valley to Disa pool and waterfall. Not very difficult in terms of climbing, but also not easy as you’re walking over rocks all the time – not easy for legs that are used to cycling, not walking! But a pretty walk, and we made it safely there and back. Too chicken to swim in the icy cold water of Disa pool though!
Day 2, we set off on a 27km bicycle ride up the mountain and back. The gradients weren’t too bad, but the surface was rocky and loose in some places, so not easy to ride. I did resort to a short walk in one or two places! Of course, the second half was much easier, as we descended the climbs we rode on the way out. Really lovely scenery from up high, with rugged rock features and mountains as far as you can see.
Unfortunately (or luckily, as the case may be), we spotted none of the leopards that still roam these hills while we were out there!
